Diesel Engine Flat Die Biomass Pellet Machine Overview

An ideal solution for small-scale and mobile biomass pellet production, especially in areas without a stable electricity supply

The diesel engine flat die biomass pellet machine is a compact, portable pelletizing unit powered by a diesel engine. It’s designed for converting biomass materials like sawdust, crop straw, and wood shavings into biomass pellets for burning or animal bedding. We supply several models of diesel engine biomass pellet machines with capacities ranging from 50 kg/h to 500 kg/h. With its off-grid capability and simple structure, it’s especially suited for farms, rural areas, and field operations. We also supply electric flat die biomass pellet machines for use in areas with sufficient electricity.

Pellet types: Wood pellets, straw pellets, rice husk pellets, peanut shell pellets, and other agricultural waste pellets
    2. Animal Feed Pellet Production
Purpose: Converts raw feed materials into compact, nutritious feed pellets. Most used in small-scale poultry, fish, and livestock farms.
Feed materials: Corn, wheat bran, soybean meal, grass, alfalfa, etc.
    3. Agricultural Waste Recycling
Purpose: Turns waste biomass into usable products to add value to agricultural by-products and support the circular economy in farming communities.
Raw materials: Crop stalks, cotton stalks, corn cobs, bagasse, rice husks
    4. Off-Grid Pellet Production
Best suited for: Remote areas without stable electricity. Forest regions. On-site field work and mobile biomass processing
    5. Small-Scale Commercial Pellet Production
Users: Entrepreneurs, cooperatives, local pellet sellers
Advantage: Start a pellet business with low investment and no need for electric infrastructure
    6. Experimental and Training Use
Used in: Agricultural institutes for biomass energy training. Demonstration projects for renewable energy education. Pilot-scale testing of new biomass material formulations

Raw Materials Suitable for Diesel Pellet Mill

    • Sawdust. Wood chips (powdered)
    • Corn stalks. Rice husks. Straw. Alfalfa
    • Coconut shell powder. Coffee husks. Grass. Leaves
    • Bamboo powder. Peanut shells. Cardboard
    • Material size: less than 5mm
    • Moisture content should ideally be 10%–15%.
    • For small-scale biomass pellet businesses, home and farm use

Diesel Flat Die Pellet Mill Advantages

    • No Electricity Needed: Ideal for power-deficient or off-grid areas

Diesel Engine Flat Die Biomass Pellet Machine Working Principle

    1. Raw Material Feeding: Sawdust or biomass powder is fed into the hopper.
    2. Compression: The material is pressed between a rotating roller and a flat die by the diesel engine’s power.
    3. Pellet Formation: Under high pressure and temperature, the material is extruded through die holes and forms cylindrical pellets.
    4. Pellet Cutting and Discharge: A cutter trims the pellets to the desired length before they are discharged.

Diesel Engine Biomass Pellet Machine FAQs

It’s a small, mobile pellet-making machine powered by a diesel engine. It compresses biomass materials (like sawdust, crop stalks, straw, rice husk, etc.) into solid fuel pellets for heating, cooking, animal bedding, or small-scale commercial use.

      • Ideal for areas without electricity
      • Suitable for outdoor or field operations
      • Offers greater mobility
      • No need for power cables or an electric setup

Standard pellet diameters include 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, and 12mm. You can change the flat die to produce different sizes.

Yes. By changing the die and adjusting the material, it can also be used to make feed pellets for poultry, cattle, rabbits, etc.

      Yes:

      • Materials must be crushed into powder (<5mm)
      • Moisture content should be 10–15%
      • You may need a crusher and dryer beforehand.
      1. Fill the diesel tank
      2. Start the diesel engine
      3. Feed dry, fine biomass powder into the hopper
      4. Collect the extruded pellets from the outlet

Allow warm-up time before full production.

      • Regularly check and change engine oil
      • Clean residue after each use
      • Lubricate bearings and rotating parts
      • Check the die and roller wear periodically

Service life depends on usage and material, but generally:
      Flat die: 300–500 hours
      Roller: 300–600 hours
They are replaceable parts. Our customers usually buy additional dies and rollers for replacement.

Yes. It can be part of a small-scale biomass pellet line with:
      Wood crusher
      Sawdust dryer
      Pellet mill (this machine)
      Cooler
      Pellet packing machine
