Small Pipe Type Sawdust Dryer Overview
A compact and efficient drying solution widely used in biomass processing industries
The Small Pipe Type Sawdust Dryer, also known as the airflow sawdust dryer or flash pipe dryer, is a continuous-flow drying machine specially designed to quickly reduce moisture in powdery or granular biomass materials, such as sawdust, rice husk, wood shavings, and straw powder. It uses hot air and airflow transportation to achieve fast and uniform drying with low energy consumption.
We supply pipe-type sawdust drying machines with a capacity range from 180 kg/h to 900 kg/h. The biomass raw materials with a moisture of less than 40% can be dried successfully to meet the wood pellet production requirements in one process. The airflow pipe type sawdust dryer is considered the most affordable sawdust dryer, which is highly recommended for small biomass pellet plants with a capacity of less than 1000kg per hour.

Why Need a Sawdust Dryer for Bio Pellets Production?
To get the superior quality of biomass pellets or briquettes with high density, it is necessary to control the moisture of the material at 8-12% exactly before the sawdust is fed into the wood pellet mill. The moisture content of your sawdust may be a little higher or lower. Too high moisture content in your sawdust will make your wood pellet production fail, and then the wood pellets or wood briquettes will be of low density and easy to break. Our airflow sawdust dyer makes a great complement for use with a small wood hammer mill and wood pellet mill.

Suitable Materials:
- Sawdust, Rice husk
- Wood powder, Bamboo powder
- Straw powder, Peanut shell powder
- Other lightweight granular or powdery biomass materials
- Note: Not suitable for large particles, high-viscosity, or wet chunks (consider rotary drum dryer for those).
Flash Pipe Dryer Advantages:
- Fast drying in 1–3 seconds
- Low investment and maintenance cost
- Compact and space-saving structure
- Easy to operate, no need for complex foundations
- Can use biomass fuel or gas/diesel for the heat source
- Ideal for small-scale pellet or briquette factories
Airflow Sawdust Dryer Features
- Compact structure: Simple and space-saving design. The dryer can be changed to any angle based on the biomass pellet production line.
- Fast drying: Moisture is reduced in seconds using high-temperature airflow
- High efficiency: Evaporation capacity of 180–900 kg of sawdust per hour
- Low cost: Economical choice for small and medium-sized production lines. Easier installation.
- Continuous operation: Ideal for integration with wood pellet or briquette production lines.
- Adjustable moisture: Final moisture content is 8-12%

Flash Pipe Dryer Working Principle
The flash pipe dryer utilizes a screw conveyor to feed the wet sawdust into the airflow drying tube continuously. The fuel boiler generates hot air, which mixes with wet materials and is then sucked into the pipes by the exhaust blower (fan) quickly. The hot air passes through the curving pipes and buffer (drying chamber) of the dryer, allowing wet materials to finish drying. The dried materials are then discharged from the outlet via an airlock.
- Raw Material Feeding. Wet sawdust is fed into the drying pipe through a feeder and screw conveyor.
- Hot Air Supply. A hot air stove or furnace produces high-temperature airflow (180–250°C).
- Airflow Drying. The sawdust is suspended and carried by the hot air inside the pipe, and moisture rapidly evaporates due to instant contact with the hot air.
- Cyclone Separation. Dried materials are collected by a cyclone separator, while the exhaust is discharged.
- Dust Removal (Optional). A dust collector or filter bag can be added to reduce environmental emissions.
