1. Raw Material Preparation
Input Materials: Wood logs, sawdust, wood chips, bamboo, agricultural waste (straw, rice husk, coconut shells, etc.)
Equipment Used: Wood Chippers (for logs) → Hammer Mill (for fine grinding)
Key Requirement: Particle size <3mm | Moisture <15% (adjustable based on material)
2. Sawdust Drying System
Drying System Types: Rotary Drum Dryer (for large-scale production) | Pipe Type Airflow Dryer (for small-scale production)
Heat Source: Biomass burners (wood waste) | Gas/steam (urban areas)
Moisture Control: 10-12% (fuel pellets) | 14-16% (bedding pellets)
3. Pelletizing
Pellet Machine Types: Ring Die Pellet Mill (for industrial production, 1-10+ TPH). Flat Die Pellet Mill (for small-scale use, 0.1-1 TPH)
Compression Ratio: 1:6 to 1:9 (adjustable for feedstock)
Hole Sizes: 6mm, 8mm, 10mm (EU standard = 6mm; US bedding = 8mm)
High pellet durability: >97.5%
The prepared raw materials are sent to the biomass pellet machine (the core equipment of the production line). Under high pressure and appropriate temperature, the material is extruded through die holes to form cylindrical pellets (usually 6-10mm in diameter, adjustable according to customer needs). The pelletizing process relies on the friction between the material and the die, which generates heat to soften the lignin in the wood—this natural binder helps the pellets maintain their shape without adding artificial adhesives. Our pellet machines are designed with wear-resistant dies and rollers, ensuring long service life and stable output (ranging from 500kg/h to 10t/h for different models).
4. Pellet Cooling & Screening
Pellet Cooler: Counter-flow design (reduce temp. to <5°C above ambient)
Pellet Screener: 3-layer vibration sieve (recycles fines back for pelletizing)
Dust Control: Cyclone + Baghouse filter (ATEX compliance for EU)
Freshly produced pellets have a temperature of 60-80°C and contain residual moisture. They are cooled to room temperature by a counter-flow cooler, which also reduces moisture to below 10% to prevent mildew during storage. After cooling, a vibrating screen separates qualified pellets from broken ones or fine powder—broken pellets are recycled for re-pelletizing, reducing waste.
5. Automatic Pellet Packaging & Storage
Qualified pellets are weighed and packaged by automatic packaging machines (25kg/bag, 50kg/bag, or bulk packaging). The finished pellets can be stored in a dry, well-ventilated warehouse. Thanks to their low moisture content and high density, they can be stored for 6-12 months without quality degradation, which is convenient for long-distance transportation—ideal for customers exporting to Europe, the Americas, or across Asia.

FAQs of Wood Pellet Plants
Advantages of Our Wood Pellet Production Line
Our wood pellet production line combines advanced technology and practical design, offering multiple advantages to meet the needs of global customers
1. High Efficiency & Stable Output
Equipped with energy-saving motors and optimized transmission systems, the production lines have a high pelletizing rate (≥95%) and stable output.
2. Superior Pellet Quality
The pellets produced have uniform density (1.1-1.3g/cm³), high calorific value (4200-4800kcal/kg), low ash content (<2%), and low moisture content (<10%). They meet European and American standards, making them easy to export and sell globally.
3. Flexibility & Customization
We offer customized solutions based on customer needs:
Raw material adaptability: The line can process various woody materials and mixed agricultural wastes (e.g., straw + wood chips) for customers who have abundant agricultural resources.
Pellet specifications: Adjustable pellet diameter (4-12mm) and length to meet different application requirements (e.g., 6mm for residential heating, 8mm for industrial boilers).
Scale options: From small-scale lines (500kg/h) for rural customers to large-scale lines (up to 20t/h) for industrial enterprises.
4. Energy Saving & Environmental Protection
The production line uses energy-saving equipment to reduce energy consumption. The entire process produces no harmful emissions, and waste (e.g., broken pellets, sawdust) is fully recycled.
5. Easy Operation & Maintenance
The large wood pellet production lines are equipped with intelligent control systems, allowing operators to monitor parameters (e.g., temperature, moisture, output) in real-time and adjust settings automatically. Key components (e.g., dies, rollers) are made of high-wear-resistant materials, reducing maintenance frequency and costs.

Applications of Wood Pellets
Wood pellets are widely used in various fields globally, with strong market demand in Europe (for environmental protection), the Americas (for energy diversification), and Asia (for industrial and domestic use).
Residential Heating
In Europe (e.g., Germany, Sweden) and North America, wood pellets are a mainstream renewable heating fuel. They are used in pellet stoves and boilers for home heating, replacing traditional coal or natural gas.
Industrial Energy
In Asia (e.g., China, Japan) and Europe, wood pellets are used as boiler fuels in industries such as paper, textiles, and food processing. They provide a cost-effective alternative to fossil fuels, helping enterprises reduce carbon footprints and comply with carbon emission reduction policies (e.g., the EU Emissions Trading System).
Power Generation
In the Americas and Europe, wood pellets are mixed with coal in power plants for co-firing, reducing CO₂ emissions. Some countries (e.g., the UK) have built biomass power plants that use wood pellets as the main fuel, supporting their renewable energy targets.
Animal Bedding
In livestock breeding industries across Europe, the Americas, and Asia, wood pellets (especially those with low ash content) are used as bedding for poultry and livestock. They absorb moisture and odors, keeping the breeding environment clean.
Agricultural & Horticultural Uses
Crushed wood pellets can be used as a soil conditioner or fertilizer additive, improving soil structure and providing organic nutrients. This application is popular in organic farming regions in Europe and North America.
