Straw Pellet Production Line Overview

Turn Waste into Wealth- Complete Biomass Straw Recycling Solutions

The straw pellet production line is a comprehensive system designed to process agricultural residues, such as wheat straw, rice straw, barley straw, corn stalks, and other similar biomass materials, into high-density biofuel pellets. It includes a series of processes, from raw material preparation to crushing straw, drying straw, pelletizing straw, cooling straw pellets, and packing straw pellets. These straw pellets are a sustainable alternative to coal, oil, and natural gas for heating and power generation. With the increasing demand for biomass, investing in a straw pellet line is a good choice. We customize the straw pellet plant with capacities ranging from 500 kg/h to 10 tons/h for our customers according to their biomass materials and special conditions, offering complete straw pellet production solutions.

Main Components of the Straw Pellet Plant

A standard straw pellet production line generally includes crushing straw, drying straw, straw pelletizing, straw pellet cooling, and straw pellet packing.

    1. Straw Crushing
The straws are generally relatively long. They can not be directly put into the biomass pellet machine for pelletizing. It is necessary to use a biomass grinder to crush the straw to a uniform size powder of 2-3mm suitable for pelletizing.

    2. Rotary Drum Dryer (if needed)
Dries raw material to an ideal moisture content of 10–15%.
The most suitable material for straw pelletizing has a moisture content of about 15%. Before pelletizing, a biomass dryer is used to reduce the moisture of the straw raw material to under 15%.

    3. Biomass Pellet Machine (Ring Die or Flat Die)
Compresses straw powder into cylindrical pellets using high pressure and heat in the pellet machines.
After drying, the straw powders were fed to the straw pellet mill via the conveying equipment. The material passes through the feeder and enters the pelletizing chamber for pelletizing, and is finally converted into straw pellets under the extrusion of the ring die and pressure rollers, which are squeezed out of the ring die and cut off by the cutter device.

    4. Pellet Cooler Machine
Reduces the temperature of freshly made pellets to prevent moisture buildup and spoilage.
The temperature of the freshly made straw pellets is around 80℃, and the moisture is around 25%, which will easily cause deterioration if directly packaged. It is necessary to reduce the moisture and temperature of the straw pellets by using a pellet cooling machine. This procedure increases the hardness of the pellets and extends the storage time of the straw pellets.

    5. Vibrating Screener (optional)
Separates broken or powdery pellets for recycling.

    6. Pellet Packing Machine
Automatically packs finished pellets into bags for sale or storage.

What Raw Materials Are Suitable For The Straw Pellet Plant?

The straw pellet production line can process various biomass raw materials. We can make high-quality straw pellets as long as we handle the raw materials’ size and moisture content well. The following list of raw materials is suitable for the straw pellet plant for your reference:

      • Wooden Materials: Wooden materials are generally forest logs, leaves, wood chips, sawdust, and shavings. Generally, wood waste comes from forests, furniture factories, and so on. Wooden raw materials have a high calorific value, are easy to get raw materials, and are an excellent raw material for biomass pellet fuel.
      • Grasses: such as alfalfa grass, miscanthus, hay, and so on. Grass is a natural plant that can be processed into pellets as a raw material for biomass as well as animal feed.
      • Straw: Straw pellet production line can process all kinds of straw raw materials, such as corn stalks, wheat straw, cotton stalks, and so on.
      • Other Biomass: bamboo, rice husk, organic fertilizer material, cow dung, chicken manure, and so on.

Please feel free to contact us for a free consultation. We can customize the biomass pellet production lines according to your conditions.
